Henderson was an architecturally designed renovation and addition. We removed the existing extension to make way for a new gallery, central courtyard, kitchen, master suite, music studio, laundry, and parking. Part of the scope was to renovate the existing house, add an alcove to the living room and a bathroom to the front section of the house. This project was architecturally designed by international architect and designer Layan Architecture.
The clients were very specific in their needs for this project to be environmentally friendly with the use of recycled materials where possible. The design was specified towards cross-flow ventilation to minimise the need for electricity for heating and cooling purposes. We were also tasked with preserving the existing character of the house, including the old tin roof and cracks in rendered brick walls, and celebrate this in the finished product… A home that has kept its soul whilst being ahead of its time environmentally!
